Term financing for planned investments
A lump sum with a fixed payment schedule, for equipment, renovations, expansion or a new location. Apply once and compare offers from our funding partners side by side.
What term financing can cover
Term financing is built around a set amount and a set repayment schedule, so it suits a defined project. What a partner will fund depends on your business and the specific offer.
Equipment
Buy equipment the business will use for years, with the payments set out in advance.
Renovations
Renovate or upgrade your location as a project with a known budget.
Expansion or a new location
Grow the business or open a new location when you know the amount and the timing.
Is it the right fit?
Term financing works best for a known, one-time project. If the need repeats or is hard to size in advance, a line of credit may fit better.
Often a good fit
- You know what the project costs and when you need the money
- The investment pays off over time, like equipment or a renovation
- You want a fixed payment you can plan around
Think twice if
- The project may not bring in enough cash to cover every payment
- The need is short-term, like inventory or payroll; working capital may suit better
- You expect to need money again and again; a line of credit may suit better
How the review works
Your application gives our funding partners what they need to evaluate the business. Fair Square may collect business, owner and financial information, ask for supporting documents and work with funding partners to find the options available to you. Information may be verified with banks, credit bureaus, references, public records and fraud-prevention or identity-verification services.
Every application is subject to underwriting and verification. An application, estimate, calculator result or proposed term sheet is not a binding offer, and it may change or be withdrawn before final documents are signed.
Before you accept an offer
A product name doesn't tell the whole story. Confirm these in the written offer and closing documents:
- The amount your business will actually receive and the total you'll pay back.
- How often payments are due, and for how long.
- Every fee, any prepayment terms, and any collateral, guarantee or security interest.
- The funding partner named in the agreement.
The cost calculator and our guide to factor rates, APR and total cost help you compare written offers on the same basis. Ask your advisor about anything that's unclear before you sign.
Fair Square is not a bank or a lender. Products, pricing and availability may change and depend on underwriting, verification and final approval by the funding partner. Funding is for business purposes only. Read the funding disclosures.
Compare your options
For day-to-day or seasonal needs, look at working capital. For access you can draw on instead of one lump sum, look at a line of credit.
